Wizard pickups were recommended by Thumper on the old Bassworld site a while back, finally gave them a call on a thursday afternoon, told the guy. who i presume was andy, what i wanted which was a pair of 84 wound for a Jazz. thats no problem and that will be £70 including p&P he told cheerfully, they will be with you tuesday. fine said i. tuesday came, no pickups. gave them a ring and Andy said thats strange they went by recorded delivery so you should have had them, I wasn't surprised, post was'nt what it used to be around here, they seem to come when they feel like it. anyway, they came wednesday, i took them down to a guy i know to be fitted, i have never attempted anything like before and i had a gig on the friday night. had my jazz back on the thursday £25 lighter. i have to someone to show how to do it, cant be that hard. Got to the gig, a local pub around seven set up with a rig i had borrowed an Hartke HA3000 with an home made two 18 celestion cab, i think, plugged in and, well, totally diiferent sounding bass to what i had before, mines a MIM so i knew some new pups were going to make a difference. sounded realy bright and warm, and fiddling with the amp and bass i some growl going, lovely stuff. as the night wore on and a bit more fiddling there was some really nice sounds coming from what really is the cheap end of the fender range. but i'm happy, not sure about the Hartke though, but thats another story. sorry if i banged on a bit and not being a bit more eloquent, its the first i have done something like this, to sum up, i highly recommend Wizard, they are British and whats more they are not expensive.
